And it's not about any hidden settings, but about the standard shutdown menu, which is called by pressing the "Start" button. In the proposed list of actions, there is sleep and hibernation (standby mode in Win XP). Although it is believed that these features are designed primarily for laptop owners, in fact this is far from the case. Moreover, the idea was so successful that in the latest versions of Windows, Microsoft even introduced an innovation - a hybrid sleep mode, aimed at personal computers.
Before we consider what is dream andthe hibernation of Windows 7, let's clear one curious fact. On the web, you can often find admiring reviews of users of the newest Windows operating systems, according to which the speed of computer loading after switching to the new version of the system increases at times (indicated 10, 8 and even 6 seconds). Similar data are sometimes indicated by the developer himself. But only this fantastic speed is observed by not all users. There is no deception! Simply "absolutely by accident" does not indicate that such a download is performed only if the Windows 7 Hibernation is used, and not the standard full power off.
The sleep mode in Windows systems isa special way of shutting down the computer, allowing for a second to resume work with the same data that were at the time of "euthanasia". It can be compared with the functions "Pause" and "Save Position" in the players. Sleep and hibernation Windows 7 can be used when three conditions are met: the BIOS of the motherboard supports modes, correct device drivers are installed, the operating system "knows" about these functions. To perform the bios adjustment, go to the settings (the Del button immediately after switching on) and select the desired state in the ACPI parameters (S1 - S4):
S1 - power to the processor and the memory is supplied, but the execution pipelines are suspended. Devices that do not explicitly display the values of their registers can be disabled;
S2 is the same as S1, but the processor is de-energized;
S3 (STR, Suspend-to-RAM, Standby) is one of themost popular, especially among laptop owners. Disables all components except RAM. Thanks to this, all the information that is in it at the time of transition to the standby mode does not disappear. When you turn on the user almost instantly gets the opportunity to continue interrupted work. The power consumption does not exceed 1 W. The disadvantage is one, but significant - even with a short-term power cut, all data is lost;
S4 (also known as Windows 7 Hibernation) - the most reliablemode. All data in memory at the time of shutdown is written to the hard disk (a dump is created). When enabled, the operating system reads the information from the hiberfil.sys file. With a low-speed hard disk and a large amount of installed RAM, recovery from S4 can take longer than downloading from scratch.
There is also a hybrid sleep mode. There is nothing complicated in it, because the name itself gives a clue. The hybrid mode is a combined S3 and S4. With this shutdown, the data is not only stored in RAM modules, but also dumped. If the power supply is not interrupted between the switching-off and the on-off, the operation of the system is resumed by reading the status of the memory cells. If, for any reason, the data in the main memory is lost, the system is restored from the dump (in the same way as in the case of S4).
You can use sleep modes both on laptops and on personal computers. In the absence of problems with power supply, you can recommend to stop your choice in S3 mode.
