Shelf Life is the most sincere form of love

I honestly can not remember any of their relations, which would not have an expiration date.

In some, the expiration date was directly specified initially. Well, for example, the guy I met in the camp, or the other we met at the festival. They were from other cities and even countries, and somehow from the very beginning nothing foreshadowed a long relationship. With one, the relationship ended on August 30, when we were leaving for home before the school, and with the other on April 21, when he had a plane ticket.

And these partings were the most lovely. There everything happened before everything became more serious - before the simple kiss gets deeper, and every word of it is more significant. There was no emotional suffering after parting - just a little sadness, pleasant memories and the realization that life goes on. It was such a flirt with love.

Much more difficult relationship with an unknown expiration date. When half a year later doubts creep in, but is all this necessary? When there are disputes that you can not solve. When the talk about the future begins, because of which you can not sleep. All these signs point to imminent death, the end of your relationship.

“Now everything is fine,” you say to yourself. - But he / she wants to live in a village, in a private house. He / she hates traveling. He / she wants / does not want children. ”

And no matter how much you say to yourself that it is not important yet, that you will figure it all out, when this happens, this is important. It worries you. It is annoying. It makes you think, and how much is enough for your relationship? What is their shelf life? And when will it end?

We tend to save ourselves from pain. If something does not last forever, it is better to do away with it early. Cut your losses. Save yourself from falling from a greater height in the later stages of the game.

But sometimes we forget that the value of things is not measured by their longevity. What sometimes the best does not last forever. All our favorite books, movies, stories end. But we still read them. All the same we look at them. We still love them and learn from them. They are still valuable, even if they run out so fast. And the same in relationships with people.

The most beautiful thing about shelf life is that they are not moving towards the end. They also do not think about the future, because they live in the present. Such a relationship is about being here and now, it is with this person, to learn from him everything, until life separates you. Because it will happen sooner or later.

One day you wake up and he will not be around. One day you will hear a joke that he probably would have liked, but you will not even have his number to send it to him. One day you will need his advice, but he will not be able to give it. Because all you can do is ask for this advice now. Laugh with him now. Sleep and wake up next to him now, enjoy every moment together.

Shelf-life relationships teach us that love does not have to be eternal in order to be meaningful. That the best things in our life are valuable not for their longevity, but for their brightness, saturation, complexity, wisdom, how they change our lives.

We must learn to appreciate each person we loved during the time you were together. Then we will comprehend the most sincere form of love. The one that opens to us, takes us by storm, and then gently teaches us to let go. And appreciate the fact that we have as long as we can hold it.
