For those who are called too good

I have heard it all my life: “You are too good, too kind.”

I hear it from co-workers, from guys, from friends. And at the same time, “You are too kind,” makes a lot of assumptions.

I think people assume that since I’m kind, I don’t know how to insist on and be assertive. Since I am kind, then I have no opinion, I just go with the flow. I am kind, so I do not mind. Or, even worse - I am kind, because I have a simple and uncomplicated life.

On behalf of many people who are good and kind: all these assumptions are wrong.

And what if for a moment to rethink all these good things?

Maybe the people who are the nicest, the most positive and kind are those who have gone through hell itself. They know how to find real words of encouragement and support, because they themselves had no time to encourage and support themselves.

They are those who forced themselves to get up in the morning from the bed, and in the evening from the floor.

They are the ones who desperately fought with their inner demons, which most are simply afraid to face.

They are those who are courageous and introspective, who are ready for change.

They are the ones who are the opposite of complacency. They want to do better and be better. They want to change the world.

Behind kindness hides much more than anything else.

1.5 years ago I went through something so painful that I cannot even describe it in words.

But, I noticed that then I began to smile more and more than ever, because I fought for my happiness day after day. I tried desperately to be grateful for everything despite the oppressive pain.
It made me think that maybe people who are always smiling are those whose hearts were completely broken.

They are the ones who have done a great job and who can be grateful. For where I am and who I am.

I think my kindness is a choice that I made not only for myself, but also for my relationship, and for those whom I encounter every day. Sometimes this is a choice that I make every 5 seconds (for example, being in a crowded minibus or standing in a long queue).

This choice is demeaning. This is a distinctive feature. This is a difficult choice. Do you know what the biggest difficulty is? Direct this kindness to all others and to yourself too. Everyday. But I think I'm doing it is not enough. And you?

When I worked in a restaurant a few years ago, the team got together and discussed the negative points that need to be paid attention to the boss. They immediately vetoed my voice because I was too kind. So what?!

I think the biggest mistake people make is that they associate kindness with weakness. It is not right.

Kindness is power.

The fact that I am smiling at a person who has just smeared a hot shawarma on a minibus while his dog was scratching at my feet is a good example of the fact that kindness is power. This, of course, is the simplest and smallest example in comparison with the terrible things that I experienced, while remaining positive.

To be kind is humility. This is forgiveness. This is the management of your own anger. This is letting go of resentment. You will reap what you sow. To be kind is to see good in others. This is Love.

Kindness is not ignorance. This means that you know what is happening and where everything is headed, but choose a different path.

Do they call you "too good"?

Take it. Before, it irritated me, but now I do not pay attention to it. I am proud of the choice that I made to be what I am.

Let “too good” be a reminder that your path is not like them. And that's fine.
