Simon - a border collie who recovers from injuries - came to Sammy, a 4-month-old boxer (a mixture), and carefully laid his paw on him. Although both dogs were rescued with a difference of several weeks, it looks like Simon understands what Sammy, who was lying on the surgical table in the rescue center in New York, had to go through.
“Animal compassion and understanding is something,” says center co-founder Jackie O’Sullivan.
Sammy had to go through hell. The poor man was spray-painted, wounded in the head and dragged tied to a car. Simon regularly visits his youngest friend. He himself has almost recovered and will soon be given to a shelter, but Sammy still has a long road to recovery. Most likely, he will need more surgery, physiotherapy, laser therapy and daily dressings. Perhaps he will need psychological help as well, since from childhood he was subjected to terrible treatment and does not know how to be an ordinary happy puppy.
